I have a laptop with an extra "normal" keyboard attached to USB port and this has worked fine for months. Both the laptop keyboard and the extra keyboard stopped working. Only thing I could do was reboot and lose dial up connection. After reboot all OK again. My question is, if this happens again is there anything

This is enough to handle DDB in the early phase of a wakeup. If there is no parent registered, the backend has to just assume that it is in a sane state. This is the same situation as faced already during early boot. The suspend stopped it from working because the cnpollc didn't bother to enable the keyboard.
